PM Modi Oath Ceremony Live Updates: Historic Third Term for the Indian Leader

Today marks a historic occasion as Narendra Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister of India for a third consecutive term. This makes him the first person after Jawaharlal Nehru to achieve this milestone. The ceremony, which will see not only PM Modi but also members of his council of ministers taking the oath, promises to be a significant event in India’s political history.

National and International Dignitaries in Attendance

A host of national and international dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony. Leaders from neighboring countries including the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, and Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, among others, have accepted invitations to attend. This international presence underscores the importance of the event on the global stage and signifies India’s strong diplomatic relations with these countries.

Security Measures and Logistics

In light of the high-profile nature of the ceremony, security across Delhi has been significantly ramped up. A three-tier security system will be in place at Rashtrapati Bhawan until June 11, and the entire Delhi-NCT area has been declared a no-fly zone to ensure no unauthorized aerial devices compromise the safety of the event.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic, Prashant Gautam, detailed the security measures, stating, “Almost 1,100 traffic staff have been deployed. They have been briefed about all the instructions. We have done all the rehearsals. An advisory has been issued for the general public for the traffic movement.” Additionally, there is heavy deployment of police and Army personnel throughout the city to manage the influx of dignitaries and maintain order.

Ceremony Details and Participants

President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to PM Modi and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7:15 p.m. today. While the entire council will not be sworn in today, around thirty ministers are expected to take their oath, marking the beginning of Modi’s third term.

The council of ministers is anticipated to include between 78 to 81 leaders. Given that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not secured a majority on its own this term, there is an expectation that more leaders from allied parties, such as Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United, will be included in the council compared to the previous term.

As the world watches, Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony today is a testament to his enduring political influence and the trust placed in him by the electorate for a third term. The presence of prominent international leaders and stringent security measures highlight the significance of the event. This historic day not only marks a new chapter in India’s political landscape but also reaffirms its democratic values and international partnerships.
